Al Reiss

Al Reiss (born c. 1921, died 2005) was an American comics artist and editor best known for his work at Timely Comics (later Marvel Comics) during the Golden Age of Comics. He served as an editor and art director for many of Timely's comics titles, and also contributed artwork to a variety of genres, including superhero, horror, and crime comics. Reiss's contributions are most prominently associated with the early work of Marvel Comics and the development of characters like the Human Torch and Sub-Mariner, although his specific role is often difficult to definitively attribute due to the collaborative and sometimes uncredited nature of comics production during that period. Beyond his work at Timely/Marvel, Reiss was also active in other publishing ventures after his time with the company.
