Roy Paul

Roy Paul (born Roy Lee Paul, October 17, 1931, Erin, Tennessee – died February 4, 2002, Tulsa, Oklahoma) was an American football linebacker who played professionally in the National Football League (NFL) for the Chicago Cardinals and the Detroit Lions.

Paul played college football at the University of Tulsa where he was a standout player and was later inducted into the University of Tulsa Hall of Fame.

He was drafted by the Chicago Cardinals in the 1954 NFL Draft. He played for the Cardinals for two seasons before being traded to the Detroit Lions. He played for the Lions from 1956 to 1962, being a key member of their defense and helping them win the NFL Championship in 1957. He was known for his toughness and hard-hitting style of play. He retired from professional football after the 1962 season.
