Secos & Molhados (album)

Secos & Molhados is the self-titled debut album by the Brazilian glam rock band Secos & Molhados, released in 1973. The album is considered a landmark in Brazilian music, notable for its theatrical presentation, incorporating elements of androgyny, makeup, and performance art, alongside its musically diverse sound.

The album blends influences from rock, folk, and traditional Brazilian music, creating a unique and experimental sound. Bernardo Vilhena wrote the majority of the lyrics, while João Ricardo composed the music and served as the band's manager and creative force. Ney Matogrosso's distinctive and powerful vocals, combined with Gérson Conrad's operatic backing vocals, were crucial to the band's success.

The album features several of the band's most iconic songs, including "Sangue Latino," "O Vira," "Assim Assado," and "Rosa de Hiroshima" (a poem by Vinicius de Moraes set to music). These songs became major hits in Brazil and helped to propel Secos & Molhados to national fame.

The album's cover art, featuring the band members in heavy makeup and avant-garde costumes, further cemented their image as a daring and innovative act. The album was a commercial success and is still considered a classic of Brazilian rock music. Its influence can be seen in subsequent generations of Brazilian artists.
