Renfrew West and Inverclyde (UK Parliament constituency)

Renfrew West and Inverclyde was a constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It elected one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system. It existed from 1983 to 2005.

History

The constituency was created in 1983 from parts of the former Renfrewshire West and Greenock & Port Glasgow constituencies. It encompassed the western portion of Renfrewshire and the Inverclyde district.

Boundaries

The constituency included areas such as Port Glasgow, Kilmacolm, and villages and rural areas west of Paisley.

Abolition

In 2005, following boundary changes enacted by the Boundary Commission for Scotland, the Renfrew West and Inverclyde constituency was abolished. Its territory was largely divided between the new constituencies of Inverclyde and West Renfrewshire.
