RaiseMe
RaiseMe was an online platform focused on micro-scholarships for high school students in the United States. The platform allowed students to earn micro-scholarships – small amounts of money – from colleges and universities based on their achievements in high school, such as grades, extracurricular activities, and volunteer work.
The idea behind RaiseMe was to make college funding more transparent and accessible, especially for students from low-income backgrounds. By showcasing their achievements throughout high school, students could proactively earn financial aid instead of solely relying on traditional financial aid packages awarded closer to the college application deadline.
Students created profiles on RaiseMe and inputted their academic performance, involvement in extracurriculars, and other relevant accomplishments. Participating colleges and universities then offered micro-scholarships for specific achievements. The accumulated micro-scholarships represented potential financial aid a student could receive if they were admitted to and enrolled in that institution.
The platform aimed to motivate students to excel in high school and provided them with a tangible understanding of how their efforts could translate into financial support for college. It also helped colleges identify and engage with potential students earlier in the college application process.
RaiseMe was acquired by CampusLogic in 2021, and CampusLogic itself was subsequently acquired by Ellucian in 2022. Following these acquisitions, the RaiseMe platform was sunset and is no longer operational as a standalone micro-scholarship platform. The underlying principles and goals of accessible and transparent college funding remain relevant, however.
