Moke (British band)

Moke were a British new wave band formed in London in 1977. The band consisted of Steve Strange (vocals), Andy Kitchen (guitar), Sean Oliver (bass), and John "Sav" Savage (drums).

Moke were associated with the burgeoning New Romantic scene, playing regularly at The Blitz club, a central hub for the movement. Although their sound was generally more guitar-based than many of their synthesizer-driven contemporaries, they shared a similar aesthetic and fashion sensibility.

The band signed to Island Records and released a few singles in the late 1970s and early 1980s, including "How Does It Feel?" and "Sunrise". While they garnered some critical acclaim and a dedicated following, they did not achieve mainstream success.

Moke disbanded in the early 1980s. Steve Strange later went on to front the more commercially successful band Visage. The other members pursued various musical projects. Though relatively short-lived, Moke are remembered as a significant, if somewhat overlooked, act within the New Romantic and new wave movements.
