Reg White
Reginald "Reg" White (1935-2010) was a British sailor and boat builder, best known for his achievements in catamaran sailing. He won a gold medal at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, crewing with John Osborne in the Tornado class. White was a dominant force in Tornado sailing during the 1960s and 1970s, winning multiple world and European championships.
Beyond his sailing accomplishments, Reg White was also a successful boat builder, founding Reg White Boats, which specialized in producing high-performance catamarans, including the Shearwater and later, Tornado catamarans. His boats were renowned for their quality and design, and played a significant role in the development of catamaran sailing technology. He is considered a pivotal figure in British sailing history and a key contributor to the global popularity of catamaran racing.
