Focus (2001 film)

Focus is a 2001 American period drama film directed by Neal Slavin, starring William H. Macy, Laura Dern, David Paymer, and Meat Loaf.

The film is based on the 1945 novel Focus by Arthur Miller, which explores themes of antisemitism, prejudice, and social injustice in a post-World War II American neighborhood. It tells the story of Lawrence Newman (Macy), a seemingly ordinary office worker who is mistaken for a Jew due to his new glasses and a perceived Jewish appearance.

As a result of this misidentification, Newman becomes the target of anti-Semitic neighbors and loses his job.
