Ed Ames
Ed Ames (born Edmund Dantes Urick, July 9, 1927 – May 21, 2023) was an American singer and actor. He was best known as a member of the 1950s and 1960s singing group The Ames Brothers, and for his role as Mingo in the television series Daniel Boone (1964-1970). Following the success of The Ames Brothers, Ames embarked on a successful solo singing career, with hits like "My Cup Runneth Over." He was also a frequent guest on television variety shows and talk shows, often showcasing his skill with a tomahawk, a skill he learned while researching his Daniel Boone role. Ames's performance with a tomahawk on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, where he accidentally struck a wooden cutout of a cowboy between the legs, became a memorable and frequently referenced comedic moment.
