Rabi Ray

Rabi Ray (born September 3, 1926, died March 6, 2017) was an Indian politician and socialist leader. He served as the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian Parliament, from 1989 to 1991.

Born in Bhanragarh, Odisha, Ray was a prominent figure in the socialist movement in India, influenced by leaders like Jayaprakash Narayan and Ram Manohar Lohia. He actively participated in various social and political movements, advocating for the rights of farmers, laborers, and marginalized communities.

Ray was a Member of Parliament (MP) multiple times, representing different constituencies in Odisha. Before becoming Speaker, he served as a Member of the Rajya Sabha (upper house) and later as a Member of the Lok Sabha.
