Prague 20
Prague 20 is an administrative district of Prague, Czech Republic. It is located in the northeastern part of the city and forms part of the municipal district Prague 10. Originally, it was a self-governing municipality known as Horní Počernice, which was incorporated into Prague in 1974 and later designated as Prague 20.
Geographically, Prague 20 is characterized by a mix of residential areas, industrial zones, and green spaces. The Černý Most housing estate, one of the largest in Prague, is partly located within Prague 20's boundaries, though primarily situated in Prague 14. The district offers a blend of older village structures and more modern development.
Administratively, Prague 20 has its own local government, responsible for local matters such as schools, parks, and infrastructure within its territory. It is subordinate to the Prague 10 municipal district for certain administrative functions.
Transportation links are provided by bus and metro lines, connecting Prague 20 to the city center and other districts. The Černý Most metro station serves as a major transportation hub.
Historically, the area has a long history dating back to the Middle Ages. Horní Počernice developed as an agricultural village, and its subsequent industrial development contributed to its growth. The incorporation into Prague reflected the city's expansion and suburbanization.
