HMS Flint Castle (K383)
HMS Flint Castle (K383) was a Castle-class corvette of the Royal Navy. She served during World War II. Commissioned in 1944, she was primarily employed on convoy escort duties in the Atlantic, protecting merchant shipping from U-boat attacks. The Castle-class corvettes were an improved version of the earlier Flower-class, offering better seaworthiness, accommodation, and armament. Following the end of the war, HMS Flint Castle was decommissioned and eventually sold. Her ultimate fate is often described as being scrapped, but details on the precise date and location of her disposal are sometimes conflicting or unavailable. The ship is representative of the vital role corvettes played in securing Allied supply lines during the Battle of the Atlantic.
