Charlie Smith (English cricketer)
Charlie Smith (born Charles Frederick Smith, 19 November 1877, place of birth unknown; died 19 July 1950, Hove, Sussex) was an English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Sussex between 1901 and 1908. A right-handed batsman and occasional right-arm medium-pace bowler, Smith appeared in 54 first-class matches, scoring 1,597 runs at an average of 18.56, with a highest score of 86. He took 14 wickets at an average of 30.00, with a best bowling performance of 3 for 33. His career was largely spent in the lower order, and he was not a regular member of the Sussex side. He also played club cricket in Sussex. Details of his life outside of cricket are scarce.
