Pionerskaya (Moscow Metro)
Pionerskaya is a station on the Filyovskaya Line (Line 4) of the Moscow Metro. It is located in the Fili-Davydkovo District of Moscow, to the west of the city center.
Opened on October 13, 1961, Pionerskaya is a surface-level station with side platforms. It was built as part of the western extension of the Filyovskaya Line, which at the time was still part of the Arbatsko-Filyovskaya Line. The station's design is functional and utilitarian, typical of stations built during this period.
The station's name, "Pionerskaya," translates to "Pioneer" in English. It is named in honor of the Young Pioneers, a Soviet youth organization for children aged 9–15, roughly analogous to the Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts.
Pionerskaya provides access to surrounding residential areas, schools, and businesses. It is a relatively busy station, serving a significant number of commuters daily.
The architecture of Pionerskaya is simple. It consists of two side platforms covered by a canopy supported by rows of pillars. The station's walls are clad in ceramic tiles.
There are surface-level vestibules at both ends of the station, providing access to the platforms via staircases.
