Lou Gui
Lou Gui (婁圭), also known as Zibo (子伯), was an advisor to Cao Cao, the warlord who controlled the Han Dynasty court during the late Eastern Han dynasty and early Three Kingdoms period of China. He hailed from Nanyang Commandery (南陽郡), which is present-day Nanyang, Henan.
Lou Gui was initially a hermit scholar known for his strategic acumen and knowledge of military affairs. Cao Cao, hearing of Lou Gui's reputation, summoned him to his court and appointed him as an advisor.
Lou Gui is best known for advising Cao Cao on logistical matters and military strategy, particularly concerning the supply of provisions for Cao Cao's armies. He is credited with developing methods to efficiently transport grain and other supplies, which proved crucial in Cao Cao's campaigns. He also offered counsel on troop deployments and defensive strategies.
While not as prominently featured in historical accounts as some of Cao Cao's other advisors, Lou Gui's contributions to Cao Cao's war efforts, especially in the realm of logistics, are acknowledged as significant. He played a key role in ensuring the stability and success of Cao Cao's military operations. The specific details of his service and contributions are often found within the broader context of Cao Cao's campaigns and biographical accounts of other individuals serving in Cao Cao's court during that period.
