Shandi (song)
"Shandi" is a power ballad by the American rock band Kiss, released as the third single from their 1980 album Unmasked. It is notable for being one of the few Kiss songs where lead vocals are not performed by either Gene Simmons or Paul Stanley. Instead, the lead vocal is performed by drummer Peter Criss, although he had already left the band at the time of recording. Anton Fig, rather than Criss' replacement Eric Carr, played drums on the track.
The song was written by Paul Stanley and Vini Poncia, and produced by Vini Poncia. It differs significantly from Kiss's typical hard rock sound, leaning more towards a melodic, pop-rock style.
"Shandi" achieved significant commercial success, particularly in Australia, where it reached number 6 on the charts, becoming one of Kiss's biggest hits there. It also performed well in other territories, helping to maintain the band's popularity despite a changing musical landscape and shifting lineup. The song's romantic lyrics and catchy melody contributed to its appeal.
