Manambolo

The Manambolo River is a major river located in the western part of Madagascar. It originates in the central highlands of the island and flows generally westward, eventually emptying into the Mozambique Channel. The river is significant for its geological features, particularly the dramatic gorges and limestone karst landscapes it has carved out over time. These features are closely associated with the Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park and Strict Nature Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its unique 'tsingy' (pinnacle) formations. The Manambolo River's course through this region includes impressive canyons and caves. It serves as an important natural boundary and a means of transport by pirogue for local communities and visitors exploring the tsingy area. The river and its basin are part of a unique ecosystem supporting diverse flora and fauna.
