Zvirynetska (Kyiv Metro)

Zvirynetska is a station on the Syretsko-Pecherska Line (Line M3) of the Kyiv Metro. It is located in the Pecherskyi Raion (district) of Kyiv, Ukraine. The station was opened on December 30, 1991, as part of the first stage of the Syretsko-Pecherska Line.

Prior to February 26, 2024, the station was named Druzhby Narodiv (Ukrainian: Дружби народів, meaning "Friendship of Peoples"). The name change was part of a broader effort to decommunize and decolonize public spaces in Ukraine following the Russian invasion. The former name commemorated the idea of friendship between the Soviet republics, which is now viewed as promoting a historical narrative aligned with Russian imperialism.

Zvirynetska station is a deep-level station with a pylon-trivault design. The architecture is typical of late-Soviet metro construction, although some aesthetic modifications may have been implemented during and following the renaming process. The station platforms are linked by escalators and stairs to a surface vestibule.

The station's location provides access to various landmarks and residential areas within the Pecherskyi district. It is a vital transport hub for residents and visitors of Kyiv.

The change of name from Druzhby Narodiv to Zvirynetska reflects significant shifts in Ukraine's national identity and its relationship with its Soviet past. The new name references Zvirynets, a historical locality within Kyiv.
