Grindie

Grindie (also sometimes seen as Grindie-Pop or Grindiepop) is a microgenre of indie rock that emerged in the mid-2000s. It's characterized by its lo-fi aesthetic, often incorporating elements of noise pop, garage rock, and sometimes even a DIY punk sensibility. The term "Grindie" is often used to describe bands that sound unpolished and raw, yet still retain a melodic or catchy element in their songwriting. Lyrics are often introspective, personal, or deal with themes of youthful angst and disillusionment.

The genre's sonic qualities are often attributed to low-budget recording equipment and a deliberate attempt to create a sound that is imperfect and authentic. Bands considered to be part of the Grindie scene are often independent and operate outside of the mainstream music industry.
