Bob Keegan (baseball)

Bob Keegan (born August 4, 1920, in East Hartford, Connecticut; died March 20, 2001, in West Palm Beach, Florida) was a right-handed pitcher in Major League Baseball who played for the Chicago White Sox from 1953 to 1961.

Keegan attended the University of Connecticut, where he also played baseball. He began his professional career in the minor leagues, gradually working his way up to the majors.

His MLB debut came on April 18, 1953, with the White Sox. Keegan was a key member of the White Sox pitching staff during the 1950s. His best season was 1957, when he posted a record of 10-4 with a 2.61 ERA. He was known for his control and ability to keep hitters off balance.

Keegan was a member of the 1959 Chicago White Sox team that won the American League pennant, their first pennant since 1919. He pitched in one game of the 1959 World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, allowing one run in one inning of relief.

Over his nine-year career, Keegan had a record of 43-35 with a 3.60 ERA in 224 games (72 starts). Following his playing career, he remained involved in baseball, serving as a coach and scout.
