Out of My Hand (film)
Out of My Hand is a 2015 American drama film directed by Takeshi Fukunaga. The film stars Bishop Blay, Duke Murphy Dennis, Zenobia Taylor, and Carlos Guity.
The film tells the story of Cisco, a Liberian rubber plantation worker struggling to provide for his family. Faced with financial hardship and a failing marriage, he travels to New York City to drive a taxi in the hopes of a better life. While there, he confronts the challenges of immigrant life, cultural differences, and the lingering trauma of Liberia's civil war. He seeks solace and connection in unexpected places.
Out of My Hand explores themes of displacement, identity, the pursuit of the American dream, and the enduring effects of conflict on individuals and communities. It premiered at the 2015 Berlin International Film Festival.
