Christopher Budd (bishop)
Christopher Budd (born June 27, 1947) is a retired Roman Catholic bishop of the Diocese of Plymouth in England.
Budd was born in Romford, Essex, and was ordained to the priesthood on July 8, 1972, for the Diocese of Brentwood. He served in various parishes and held diocesan positions before being appointed the Bishop of Plymouth by Pope John Paul II on November 8, 1985. He was consecrated a bishop on December 15, 1985.
As Bishop of Plymouth, Budd oversaw the pastoral care of the Catholic population in Cornwall, Devon, and Dorset. He was known for his commitment to Catholic education and social justice issues. He also served on various committees within the Bishops' Conference of England and Wales.
Budd retired as Bishop of Plymouth on November 9, 2013, and was succeeded by Bishop Mark O'Toole. Since his retirement, he has resided in the Plymouth diocese and continues to offer support to the local church.
