Talgje
Talgje is an island in the municipality of Stavanger in Rogaland county, Norway. It is located in the Boknafjorden, northeast of Stavanger city. The island is primarily agricultural with some residential areas. Talgje is connected to the mainland via the Finnøy Tunnel, part of the Ryfast tunnel system. The island has a church, Talgje Church, dating back to the 12th century. Historically, Talgje was part of the municipality of Finnøy before Finnøy merged into Stavanger in 2020. The name Talgje is believed to be derived from the Old Norse word "talg," referring to tallow or animal fat, possibly due to the island's importance in agriculture and animal husbandry.
