USS Bibb

The name USS Bibb has been assigned to two ships of the United States Navy, both named in honor of George M. Bibb, a U.S. Senator from Kentucky and the 17th United States Secretary of the Treasury.

• USS Bibb (1845): A revenue cutter launched in 1845 and served primarily in the Revenue Cutter Service (later the United States Coast Guard). It was involved in surveying duties and law enforcement along the American coast. Details of its specific operational history are somewhat sparse but it was a significant vessel in the antebellum era.

• USS Bibb (WPG-31): A Treasury-class cutter commissioned in 1937. It served extensively in World War II as a convoy escort in the Atlantic, earning battle stars for its service. After the war, it continued service with the Coast Guard, performing duties such as search and rescue and oceanographic research. It was decommissioned in 1985.
