George Young (Australian politician)

George Young (born 18 April 1925, died 19 September 2016) was an Australian politician who served as a Liberal Party member of the Australian Senate for South Australia from 1968 to 1981.

Born in Adelaide, South Australia, Young was educated at St Peter's College. Prior to entering politics, he was involved in the pastoral industry.

Young was appointed to the Senate on 18 June 1968 to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Senator Clem Ridley. He was subsequently elected to the Senate in his own right and served until his retirement on 30 June 1981.

During his time in Parliament, Young served on various Senate committees, including the Standing Committee on Finance and Government Operations and the Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs. He was known for his advocacy for rural and regional communities and his focus on economic issues.

After leaving politics, Young maintained an interest in public affairs and continued to be involved in the Liberal Party. He passed away in 2016.
