Ken McKenzie Trophy (IHL)

The Ken McKenzie Trophy was awarded annually to the American Hockey League (AHL) team that did the most for the community during the regular season. It was named after Ken McKenzie, the co-founder and editor of The Hockey News.

The trophy was originally awarded in the International Hockey League (IHL) beginning in the 1977-78 season. When the IHL ceased operations following the 2000-01 season, the trophy was transferred to the AHL.

The AHL discontinued awarding the Ken McKenzie Trophy after the 2008-09 season. It was replaced by the AHL Community Excellence Award, which is still awarded annually.

The criteria for selection were based on a team's involvement in charitable activities, community outreach programs, and efforts to promote the sport of hockey within its local area. The winning team demonstrated a significant commitment to giving back to the community and making a positive impact beyond the ice rink.
