Jerry Green (writer)

Jerry Green (born December 27, 1928, died November 29, 2018) was a prominent American sports writer, best known for his long and distinguished career covering the Detroit Lions for The Detroit News. He was the first and, for many years, only writer to cover every Super Bowl game from Super Bowl I in 1967 to Super Bowl LII in 2018, a streak of 52 consecutive games.

Green began his career at the Saginaw News after graduating from the University of Michigan. He joined The Detroit News in 1957, quickly establishing himself as a leading voice in sports journalism. Over his career, he covered a wide range of sporting events, but his coverage of the Detroit Lions was particularly impactful, providing insightful analysis and commentary on the team's performance, players, and history.

He was recognized for his journalistic excellence throughout his career. He received numerous awards for his writing and contributions to sports journalism. Green was a member of the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame.
