Oleh Voloshyn (politician)
Oleh Voloshyn (Ukrainian: Олег Володимирович Волошин; born April 12, 1981, Mykolaiv) is a Ukrainian politician and political scientist. He has been a Member of Parliament in the Verkhovna Rada (Ukraine's parliament) representing the Opposition Platform — For Life party (OPZZh).
Voloshyn's political career is marked by his pro-Russian stances and controversial statements regarding Ukraine's foreign policy orientation, particularly its relationship with Russia and the European Union. Prior to entering parliament, he worked as a political analyst and advisor.
During his time in parliament, Voloshyn was known for his vocal opposition to Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic integration aspirations, advocating instead for closer ties with Russia. He often criticized policies aimed at distancing Ukraine from Russia and promoted narratives aligned with Russian foreign policy objectives.
Following the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, Voloshyn was accused of treason and is subject to sanctions and investigations by Ukrainian authorities related to his alleged collaboration with Russia. The OPZZh party, to which he belonged, was banned in Ukraine due to its pro-Russian stance and perceived collaboration with the aggressor state. The current whereabouts and activities of Oleh Voloshyn are subject to ongoing investigation and reports.
