Avalanche (Mountain album)
Avalanche is the third studio album by the American hard rock band Mountain, released in July 1974. The album marked a return for the band after a brief hiatus.
The album was produced by Felix Pappalardi, who also produced Mountain's earlier albums. It features the original lineup of Leslie West (guitar, vocals), Felix Pappalardi (bass, vocals), Corky Laing (drums), and Steve Knight (keyboards).
Avalanche contains nine tracks, including the singles "The Steppenwolf" and "Swlabr." The album displays Mountain's characteristic blend of heavy guitar riffs, powerful vocals, and intricate musicianship. While the album didn't achieve the same commercial success as some of their earlier works, it is considered a solid addition to their discography and showcases the band's continued exploration of hard rock and blues influences.
The album's title, "Avalanche," is reflected in the album art, which depicts a snowy mountain landscape. The title possibly symbolizes the powerful and overwhelming sound Mountain aimed to deliver.
