Leonardo Fioravanti (engineer)

Leonardo Fioravanti (born January 31, 1938) is an Italian automobile designer. He is best known for his long association with Pininfarina, where he designed many iconic Ferrari models.

Fioravanti studied mechanical engineering at the Polytechnic University of Milan. He joined Pininfarina in 1964 and quickly rose through the ranks, eventually becoming the company's Design Director. During his tenure at Pininfarina, he was responsible for the design of numerous influential vehicles, including the Ferrari Dino 206 GT, Ferrari Daytona, Ferrari 308 GTB, Ferrari 288 GTO, and Ferrari F40. His designs are characterized by their aerodynamic efficiency and elegant lines.

In 1988, Fioravanti left Pininfarina to establish his own design firm, Fioravanti Srl. This company has worked on a variety of automotive and industrial design projects for various clients. Fioravanti also pursued research into innovative automotive technologies, including advanced aerodynamic solutions and alternative propulsion systems. He developed several concept cars showcasing these technologies.

Fioravanti's contributions to automotive design have been widely recognized. He is considered one of the most important and influential car designers of the 20th century. His designs have not only shaped the aesthetic landscape of the automotive world but have also contributed to advancements in aerodynamic performance and vehicle safety.
