Stephanie McLean (politician)
Stephanie McLean is a Canadian politician who served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Calgary-Varsity in the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 2015 to 2019. She was a member of the Alberta New Democratic Party (NDP).
McLean was first elected in the 2015 Alberta general election, defeating Progressive Conservative candidate Donna Kennedy-Glans. During her term in office, she served in Premier Rachel Notley's cabinet as the Minister of Service Alberta and Minister Responsible for Democratic Renewal.
As Minister of Service Alberta, McLean oversaw the province's consumer protection and registry services. Her responsibilities also included improving government services and reducing red tape. As Minister Responsible for Democratic Renewal, she worked on initiatives related to electoral reform and citizen engagement.
Prior to entering politics, McLean worked as a lawyer specializing in family law. She holds a law degree from the University of Calgary.
McLean did not seek re-election in the 2019 Alberta general election.
