Autostadt

The Autostadt (German for "Automobile City") is a visitor attraction adjacent to the Volkswagen factory in Wolfsburg, Germany. Opened in 2000, it is essentially an automotive theme park and museum complex owned and operated by Volkswagen Group.

The Autostadt features pavilions dedicated to various brands within the Volkswagen Group, including Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT, Škoda, Porsche, Lamborghini, Bentley, and Bugatti. Each pavilion showcases the history, design, and technology of the respective brand. Visitors can explore interactive exhibits, view current and classic models, and learn about the manufacturing process.

A key feature of the Autostadt is the Car Towers (AutoTürme), two 48-meter (157 ft) glass silos used for storing new Volkswagen cars awaiting delivery to customers. The towers are a prominent landmark and a popular photo opportunity. Customers who choose to pick up their new car directly from the factory can witness its automated retrieval from the tower.

Beyond the brand pavilions and car towers, the Autostadt offers a range of attractions, including a museum dedicated to the history of the automobile (Zeithaus), a driving safety center, a children's driving school, and various restaurants and shops. The Autostadt also hosts events and concerts throughout the year. Its purpose is to showcase the automotive industry and, more specifically, the Volkswagen Group's products and heritage, attracting tourists and potential customers.
