Noaʻtau
Noaʻtau is a village located on the island of Rotuma, which is a Fijian dependency with a degree of internal autonomy. Noaʻtau is one of the seven districts into which Rotuma is divided. The village serves as the administrative center for the Noaʻtau District. The district itself encompasses several smaller settlements and agricultural lands.
Historically, Noa'tau, like other Rotuman districts, functioned as a distinct political unit with its own chiefs and customs, although these districts now primarily serve administrative purposes within the context of the Fijian government. The inhabitants of Noa'tau primarily engage in subsistence farming and fishing. The Rotuman language and culture are actively maintained in Noa'tau.
