William Henry Young (politician)

William Henry Young (born March 21, 1813, died 1878) was an American politician and planter from Georgia. He served as a United States Representative for Georgia's 9th congressional district from 1853 to 1855.

Born in Jones County, Georgia, Young pursued classical studies and graduated from Franklin College (now the University of Georgia) in Athens in 1834. He studied law, was admitted to the bar, and commenced practice in McDonough, Georgia.

Young was elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-third Congress, serving from March 4, 1853, to March 3, 1855. He declined to be a candidate for renomination in 1854.

Following his term in Congress, Young resumed his law practice and engaged in planting. He died in McDonough, Georgia, in 1878 and is interred in McDonough City Cemetery.
