Ministry of Defence (Slovenia)
The Ministry of Defence (Slovenia) (Slovene: Ministrstvo za obrambo Republike Slovenije, abbreviated MORS) is the governmental ministry responsible for the defence of Slovenia. It is responsible for the Slovenian Armed Forces, civil defence, and other activities related to national security.
The Ministry's main tasks include formulating and implementing defence policy, managing the defence system, representing Slovenia in international defence organizations, and coordinating defence-related activities with other government agencies. It is headed by the Minister of Defence, who is a member of the Slovenian Government.
The Ministry also plays a role in disaster relief, search and rescue operations, and other humanitarian assistance efforts. It works closely with other ministries, such as the Ministry of the Interior, to ensure the safety and security of the country. The current legal basis for its operation is rooted in the Defence Act. Key responsibilities extend to equipment procurement for the Slovenian Armed Forces and managing military infrastructure.
