Smolensko (horse)

Smolensko was a Thoroughbred racehorse bred in Ireland and trained in Great Britain. He is primarily known for winning the 1984 Epsom Derby.

Foaled in 1981, Smolensko was sired by Nijinsky out of the mare Northern Dancer. He was owned by Vassilios S. Goulandris.

His victory in the Derby was considered a significant achievement, though his subsequent racing career did not maintain the same level of success. While a highly regarded colt, he did not win another major race after the Derby.
