Rose Hill (Capron, Virginia)
Rose Hill is a historic home located near Capron, Southampton County, Virginia. It is a two-story, five-bay, frame dwelling built around 1800 and significantly remodeled in the Greek Revival style in the mid-19th century. The remodeling included the addition of a tetrastyle portico with Doric order columns, a new entranceway, and updated interior details. The house retains many original features, including its framing and some interior woodwork. Outbuildings include a kitchen and a smokehouse.
Rose Hill is considered a significant example of Greek Revival architecture in Southampton County and reflects the agricultural prosperity of the region in the 19th century. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
