James Hoyt (baseball)

James Hoyt (born October 6, 1986) is an American professional baseball pitcher. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Houston Astros, Cleveland Indians, Miami Marlins, and Los Angeles Angels, and in the KBO League for the KT Wiz.

Hoyt was drafted by the Florida Marlins in the 35th round of the 2009 MLB draft. He worked his way through the Marlins' minor league system before being traded to the Houston Astros in 2012. He made his MLB debut with the Astros on August 16, 2016.

Known for his fastball and slider combination, Hoyt typically pitches in relief roles. He was traded from the Astros to the Cleveland Indians in 2018, and later signed with the Miami Marlins. He subsequently played for the Los Angeles Angels. In 2020, Hoyt joined the KT Wiz of the KBO League. He returned to the United States and signed a minor league deal with the New York Mets in 2022, and with the Kansas City Royals in 2023.
