Tichit

Tichit is an ancient settlement located in south-central Mauritania, West Africa. It is considered one of the oldest continuously inhabited settlements in the region, dating back to around 2000 BC. Tichit is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognized for its well-preserved traditional architecture and its historical significance as a major center of trade and Islamic learning along the trans-Saharan trade routes.

The architecture of Tichit is characterized by its unique construction using dry-stone masonry and intricate geometric designs.
