Action (TV series)

Action is an American comedy-drama television series that aired on Fox from 1999 to 2000. Created by Chris Alberghini and Mike Chessler, the series starred Jay Mohr as Peter Dragon, a cynical and often amoral Hollywood producer.

The show satirized the film industry and its often-exploitative practices. Each episode typically revolved around Dragon's attempts to get his films made, often resorting to questionable tactics and dealing with eccentric personalities along the way. Illeana Douglas co-starred as Wendy Ward, Dragon's former child-star girlfriend and frequent partner in crime.

The series was known for its biting humor and sharp commentary on Hollywood culture. Despite critical acclaim, it suffered from low ratings and was canceled after one season of 13 episodes. A central theme of the show was Dragon's internal struggle between his ambition and his (rare) moments of conscience. Guest stars included many well-known actors and personalities playing exaggerated versions of themselves or fictional characters within Dragon's orbit. The show’s premise allowed for a constant stream of topical humor and parodies of current trends in the entertainment industry.
