Liza Cody
Liza Cody (born Liza Nassim, 1944) is a British crime novelist best known for her Anna Lee series.
Cody studied painting and worked in various jobs, including as a market gardener and building worker, before turning to writing. Her first novel, Dupe, featuring Anna Lee, a female private investigator, was published in 1980. The Anna Lee series, known for its gritty realism and complex characters, comprises six novels. Cody's work is notable for its exploration of social issues, its strong female protagonist, and its realistic portrayal of working-class London.
In addition to the Anna Lee series, Cody has written other crime novels, including those featuring the character Eva Wylie, a wrestler. She has also written stand-alone thrillers and short stories.
Cody has received critical acclaim for her work, and is considered a significant figure in British crime fiction. Her novels often feature strong social commentary and challenge traditional genre conventions.
