Everspace

Everspace is a single-player rogue-like space combat shooter developed and published by ROCKFISH Games. Released in 2017, it is characterized by fast-paced, arcade-style space combat, procedural generation, and a non-linear narrative.

The gameplay loop of Everspace centers around traversing a series of interconnected sectors, scavenging resources, engaging in dogfights with enemy factions, and upgrading the player's ship. Due to its rogue-like nature, death is permanent, returning the player to the starting sector with a portion of their acquired resources that can be used for permanent upgrades, improving subsequent runs.

The game features a narrative told through encounters and memories accessed upon death, gradually revealing the protagonist's backstory and the secrets of the Everspace universe. The story unfolds as the player progresses through multiple runs, piecing together fragments of information.
