Clickies
Clickies (often stylized as "clickies") is a slang term primarily used within online gaming communities, particularly in massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) and other games with complex interfaces and numerous abilities or items. It refers to players who primarily activate abilities or use items by clicking on their respective icons on the screen with the mouse, rather than using keyboard shortcuts or keybinds.
Clickies are often considered less efficient and slower than players who utilize keybinds, as the need to visually locate and physically move the mouse cursor to click an icon can introduce delays, especially in fast-paced combat situations. The term often carries a slightly negative connotation, suggesting a lack of skill or experience compared to players who have mastered keybinding techniques.
However, it's important to note that not all players who click are necessarily unskilled. Some players may have disabilities or personal preferences that make clicking a more comfortable or viable option for them. Others may simply be casual players who prioritize enjoyment over optimization. The effectiveness of clicking versus keybinding ultimately depends on the player's individual skill, reaction time, and the specific requirements of the game being played.
The opposite of "clickies" are often referred to as "keybinders" or "keyboard turners" (though keyboard turning is often also seen as inefficient compared to using the mouse for turning). The debate over the merits of clicking versus keybinding is a recurring theme in many online gaming communities, often sparking discussions about player skill and optimal gameplay strategies.
