HMS E34

HMS E34 was a British E-class submarine built by John Brown & Company, Clydebank. She was laid down in November 1915, launched on 27 November 1916, and commissioned in January 1917.

Serving during World War I, HMS E34 operated in the North Sea and the Baltic Sea. She is most notable for sinking the German U-boat UC-76 on 12 January 1918. On 20 July 1918, while patrolling off Borkum, Germany, HMS E34 was sunk by the German auxiliary minesweeper Cläre Hugo Stinnes 1. All 33 crew members were lost. The wreck of HMS E34 lies at a depth of approximately 30 meters (98 feet) and is designated as a protected war grave.
