Primer 55
Primer 55 was an American nu metal band formed in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1997. The group was known for its blend of heavy metal, rap, and industrial influences, often categorized alongside bands like Limp Bizkit and Korn during the late 1990s and early 2000s nu metal movement.
The band’s core members included vocalist J-Sin (Jason Luttrell), guitarist Bobby Burns, and bassist Mike Dodd. Primer 55 released several albums, including "Introduction to Mayhem" (2000) and "The New Release" (2001). While they garnered some mainstream attention with their singles and music videos, they ultimately struggled to achieve lasting commercial success.
Over time, Primer 55 underwent several lineup changes. Bobby Burns, later known for his work with Soulfly, was a significant contributor to their initial sound. The band eventually disbanded in the mid-2000s, with members pursuing other musical projects. Despite their relatively short lifespan, Primer 55 remains a notable, if not always remembered, act within the nu metal landscape. Their music often featured aggressive vocals, heavy guitar riffs, and socially conscious or introspective lyrics.
