Minister for Justice (Sweden)

The Minister for Justice (Swedish: Justitieministern) is a cabinet minister within the Swedish Government and the head of the Ministry of Justice. The Minister is responsible for a broad range of policy areas including criminal law, civil law, migration law, constitutional law, data protection, and courts.

The current Minister for Justice is Gunnar Strömmer, since 2022.

The Minister for Justice is appointed by the Prime Minister and is a member of the cabinet. The officeholder is usually a member of the Riksdag (Swedish Parliament), but this is not a formal requirement. The Minister works with civil servants within the Ministry to develop and implement government policy in the areas of justice and security. The Minister also represents the government in parliamentary debates and international forums related to justice matters.
