Ambitions (album)
Ambitions is the eighth studio album by the Japanese rock band ONE OK ROCK, released on January 11, 2017, for the Japanese version and January 13, 2017, for the international version. The album was released through A-Sketch in Japan and Fueled by Ramen worldwide. Ambitions continues the band's trend of incorporating more English lyrics and a more accessible rock sound, aimed at reaching a broader international audience.
The album features collaborations with several international artists. The Japanese version includes a collaboration with the Japanese band ONE'S WISH, while the international version features collaborations with Australian pop punk band 5 Seconds of Summer on the track "Take What You Want," and Canadian singer Avril Lavigne on the song "Listen."
Ambitions debuted at number one on the Oricon Albums Chart in Japan, selling over 269,000 copies in its first week. It also charted in several international markets, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia. The album received generally positive reviews, with critics praising its energetic sound and catchy melodies, though some noted a departure from the band's earlier, heavier sound.
Several singles were released in support of the album, including "Taking Off," "Bedroom Warfare," "We Are," and "American Girls." Ambitions was supported by the Ambitions Japan Tour and the Ambitions World Tour.
