Daniel Kanu (politician)
Daniel Kanu is a Nigerian politician best known for his role as the founder and National Chairman of the National Youth Organisation (NYO), a youth movement that gained prominence during the military regime of General Sani Abacha in the 1990s. The NYO was a vocal supporter of Abacha's transition program and advocated for his continuation in office.
Kanu became a controversial figure due to the perception that the NYO was used as a tool to promote Abacha's political ambitions and suppress dissent. He was often referred to as "Mr. Fix Nigeria" during this period, a moniker that reflected both his influence and the perception that he was working to manipulate the political system.
Following Abacha's death in 1998, Kanu largely disappeared from the political scene. Information regarding his activities and current political involvement is limited. His legacy remains associated with the tumultuous political climate of the Abacha era and the debates surrounding the legitimacy of the transition program at that time.
