Staunton River (Rapidan River tributary)

The Staunton River is a small, unnamed tributary of the Rapidan River located in Madison County, Virginia. It is not to be confused with the much larger Staunton River (Roanoke River), which drains a significant portion of southern Virginia and empties into the Albemarle Sound in North Carolina. This smaller Staunton River is a minor stream contributing to the Rapidan's watershed within the Shenandoah National Park. Its course is relatively short and lies entirely within the mountainous terrain of the region. Due to its size, it is not typically considered a significant geographical feature, but contributes to the overall hydrology and ecology of the Rapidan River watershed. Further information regarding specific flow rates, aquatic life, or other environmental details may be limited due to its relatively small size and lack of focused study.
