Lucius Cornelius Lentulus (consul 327 BC)

Lucius Cornelius Lentulus was a Roman politician and general who served as consul in 327 BC, during the Second Samnite War. His colleague in the consulship was Quintus Publilius Philo.

During his consulship, Lentulus operated primarily in the region of Samnium. The specifics of his military actions are not entirely clear from surviving historical accounts, which often focus more on the activities of his consular colleague, Publilius Philo. Publilius Philo, by virtue of receiving a provocatio (extension of his command), played a more prominent role in the war that year.

The details of Lentulus's subsequent career are unknown. The gens Cornelia, to which he belonged, was one of the most prominent patrician families in Rome, and he likely held further public offices, though these are unrecorded. The Lentuli branch of the Cornelia gens produced numerous consuls and other high-ranking magistrates throughout the Roman Republic.
